Before we start any web or e-newsletter campaign, we do keyword research. We begin by examining the most obvious search terms and then dig deeper to find terms that are cost-effective and –even more importantly – effective at driving traffic to your site. We’ll find niche keywords using historical data to find out how many times a keyword phrase is being used. Next, we’ll determine if there’s a demand for that type of keyword and determine the level of difficulty of obtaining that keyword.

 

For example, an Illinois-based attorney might be interested in the keyword “military attorney.” Not only is this term very expensive to purchase, a search by this term yields hundreds of results. It’s very unlikely that the attorney would appear high in the search engine rankings. However, narrower terms such as “air force attorney” or “air force lawyer” will yield more effective, affordable results.

 

Using specialized software tools coupled with our experience and brainpower, we’ll use a fine-tooth comb to locate the right keywords for your organization. We’ll also revisit this keyword research on a regular basis because current keywords can lose effectiveness over time and new keywords can quickly appear.
